I tested mainline kenel. This error is present there, the computer still
does not return from sleep mode.

Bug description:
  Ubuntu can't return from standby mode in the usual way. Probably
  something with the video card driver as a signal to the monitor from
  the video card does not arrive. Pressing the "reset" does not help.
  Installing an alternative video driver nvidia-331-updates does not
  lead to visible results: the system still does not return from sleep
  mode.
