Title:
Kernel hangs on boot for about 30 seconds before init
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
After loading the kernel the system hangs for about 30-35 seconds. I suspect that it has something to do with the graphic card.
I think the problem didn't exist with the initial 10.04 version and definately not with 9.10.
The problem already occured with a recent 10.04 version (but I had activated some beta repositories and I don't remember which kernel was installed)
Here is the output of dmesg that shows the delay:

I found a similar problem here (with a radeon driver):
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25506
I tried with kernel parameter: i915.modeset=0 and i915.modeset=1 but
this had no effect on the delay.
I will try the mainline kernel later to see if the problem exists
there too.
