Title:
ubuntu 12.04 installation firewire_ohci failed to link power status
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
I attempted to install ubuntu 12.04 on an Acer TravelMate 8200,
without success. Initially I would just get a black/blank screen after
having chosen install language English and attempting to "Install
Ubuntu".
Then I added the boot options "nosplash noquiet radeon.modeset=0" and could debug the problem, whereupon I discovered the following error:
"firewire_ohci failed to link power status"
I couldn't find any way to disable loading of firewire (1394), so I
was forced to abort installation of 12.04 and had to install 11.10,
which went totally fine, without problems, on the same laptop.
WORKAROUND: blacklist=firewire_ohci
