no thanks, the workaround is fine.
for the time being, open-source drivers are more needed for live boot 
and fresh installing, than daily use (hope this might change in the future).
I'll update this bug if things changes.

  Having dual AMD crossfire cards doesn't work. During liveCD session, X
  server fails to work and hangs on a pink screen.

  WORKAROUND: I must disconnect one card to complete the installation,
  then add the proprietary drivers before replugging the second card.
