I will attempt to upgrade the kernel and will get back to you.

When i asked for help about this issue in an a kernel irc channel, they
told me that i should point out the keyboard is

[ 11.501292] input: AT Translated Set 2 keyboard as
/devices/platform/i8042/serio0/input/input4

which is found in dmesg-13.04.txt.

  my keyboard stopped working

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I have been using kubuntu 13.04 and was testing out the 13.10 live cd,
but unfortunately my keyboard no longer works. My laptop is an LG R1
model LGW4 and i will be attaching the dmesg and lsusb for both 13.04
  and 13.10 for your viewing.

I have checked online and other people using LG laptops were also
  mentioning similar problems.
