[Bug 1291042] Re: Can't disable touchpad anymore after upgrade to 14.04

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.13 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Title:
Can't disable touchpad anymore after upgrade to 14.04

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Hi,

it's quite annoying if typing on a notebook's keyboard the touchpad is
accidently activated and moves the mouse or generates mouse klicks.

On both of my notebook computers I could disable this through keyboard
shortcuts (Fn+ a blue function key, I guess BIOS-driven). Since
upgrading to 14.04 on one of my notebooks this still works, while on
the other (ASUS) it does not work anymore. No way to disable the
touchpad, causing plenty of typing faults due to a magically moving
  mouse pointer.
