regarding bios, and just to provide some information.
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/8fuj10uc.txt
has the changelog of the bios.

1.17 is currently the latest.  Heres the last 4 changelog entries:

 - (Fix) Fixed an issue where the expected machine serial number might not be

         though "AC and Battery" is selected in ThinkPad Setup.

  x120e does not resume from suspend

Bug description:
  fresh install of 14.04 on x120e, also reproducing on the live-usb ISO.

  resume from suspend fails every time.  I have to long-press the power
  button and then turning it back on doesn't post to BIOS.  To recover,
  I have to pull the battery and power back on.
