ryan finnegan, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A97/HelpDesk_Download/ an update to your BIOS is available (1605). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate does it change anything?  If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

  8086:08b1 [Asus M5A97] Intel AC7260 Drops AC WiFi

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Running Ubuntu 14.04 since Beta 2

  Desktop machine with Intel AC7260 + Bluetooth drops AC 5ghz wifi
  connection.  No definitive pattern, but seems to drop more often when
  running Transmission torrent client and while using ssh to connect to
  home server.

  2.4ghz N wifi is stable - 68-69/70 connection
  5ghz AC wifi unstable - usually 52/70 connection

  On Ubuntu 13.10 there was no AC wifi issue with this device.

  Tried turning off Power Management in iwconfig, but no change in
  connectivity.
