[Bug 1315069] Re: Brightness Keyboard Shortcuts no longer working after short time

** Description changed:

I am currently using Ubuntu 14.04 (upgraded from 13.10, and from that
  13.04) a Gateway NV77H Series laptop with an i5 core and intel's
backlight controller. After the initial installation, the first bug
workaround I had to do was set grub to have acpi_backlight=vendor, and
that made brightness work in the first place. That should eventually be
fixed, but the bigger problem I am having currently, is after the last
upgrade to 14.04, the brightness keyboard shortcuts no longer work after
a short period of time after boot. After reboot and log on, it all works
- fine, but after I focus to a window, it never seems to recover. The
- included log from 'ubuntu-bug linux' might give a few extra bug reports
- as well, but this is probably more important since it has to deal with a
- common function of a laptop.
-
- I am also sorry about not knowing what the package is, but the nature of
- this bug, probably won't throw an exception anywhere, so locating it may
- be difficult for my level of understanding.
+ fine, but after I focus to a window, it never seems to recover.
