[Bug 1315834] Re: Unable to adjust screen brightness on Acer Aspire V5-122P
Joseph
Many thanks for your response. I have installed and tested the bug
against the kernel installed by package:
linux-
image-3.15.0-031500rc4-generic_3.15.0-031500rc4.201405042135_amd64.deb
The problem remains identical to the standard Ubuntu kernel (as
described in my initial report).
I believe that I have added the tag "kernel-bug-exists-upstream" as
requested.
Many thanks

Title:
Unable to adjust screen brightness on Acer Aspire V5-122P
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
I am unable to adjust the screen brightness on my Acer Aspire V5-122P.
Adjusting brightness in the settings applet has no affect. Adjusting
brightness with the keyboard function keys tuns the screen on and off
seemingly randomly.
I believe this (rightly or wrongly) to be a problem with the hardware
drivers for the laptop's touch screen (rather than with xorg or the
open source AMD graphics drivers). I have therefore filed a bug report
under "linux".
Unfortunately I do not know how to determine the exact details of the
touch screen. I have included the output of lspci below, but cannot
see the screen listed. I am happy to gather further information with
guidance.
Many thanks
