[Bug 1320214] Re: HP laptops: mute LED state is not synchronized correctly
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.15 kernel[0].
If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.
If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.
If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".
Thanks in advance.

Title:
HP laptops: mute LED state is not synchronized correctly
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
This problem applies to at least the HP 2230s and HP 6710b laptops, so
the problem might be in the HP ACPI WMI driver or its integration with
the rest of the operating system.
Problem description:
Ubuntu remembers what kind of volume setting and mute state I have
when headphones are plugged in or not.
The mute LED correctly changes on/off when the mute button is pressed.
However the mute LED of the laptop is not updated to follow the actual
remembered setting when headphones are plugged or unplugged.
If the mute preference of the state of headphones being plugged in
differs from the state of them being unplugged, this will lead to
inverted behavior of the mute LED.
