Title:
Synaptics touchpad not detected on an HP F5Y33UA running Ubuntu 12.04

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I got a new laptop that came with Windows 8 but Windows 8 is bad so I
uninstalled that and put Ubuntu 12.04 on there instead. When I had
Windows 8 the touchpad worked fine but now it doesn't do anything, no
scrolling and no clicking. So I attached the output of dmesg and the
contents of /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /proc/bus/input/devices like the
wiki says I should. I hope we can fix this, thanks!
