maxmito, just to clarify, was their a prior version of Ubuntu that when
you actually installed it, didn't reproduce this problem?

  Hi,
  after I installed Xubuntu 14.04 the screen resolution is only 640x480, while if I run it LIVE, I get also higher resolutions (1024X768, etc).
  My graphic card is a SiS 771/671 PCIE (from lspci).
