OK.

But I still think this is to do with power management in the e1000e
driver, and that a newer version of the e1000e driver needs merging into
the kernel.

  suspend to ram

Bug description:
  Sometimes, usually towards the end of the day, I find my e100e module
  does not allow the system to suspend.

  WORKAROUND: "rmmod e100e" and I can suspend again. I do use the
  ethernet adapter, and it only has occurred after having been connected
  to ethernet.
