Hi Christopher I invite you to read again the thread :)

with:
14.04
13.04
12.04

All of them, running as LIVE, they are fine more or less,  I can set a
1024x768 resolution.

If I install them no, I get get maximum 640x480.

I installed Linux Mint 16 and I don't have this issue, I can get
1024x768.

  after I installed Xubuntu 14.04 the screen resolution is only 640x480, while if I run it LIVE, I get also higher resolutions (1024X768, etc).
