[Bug 1263223] Re: Samsung AMD A4 4355M Display remains off after resume
Lenin, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Because Samsung does not easily reveal what the latest BIOS is for this model, could you please download the latest firmware software as per http://www.samsung.com/in/support/model/NP535U3X-A01BD-downloads , and advise if a BIOS update is available? If so, when you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.
For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.
Thank you for your understanding.
** Description changed:
- After I turn on from a Suspend state, the laptop turns on and even from
- the sounds its assumable that it just booted on to the login screen. But
+ After I resume from a suspend, the display does not turn back on.
+ However, I hear sounds as if just booted on to the login screen. But
with all combinations of Keys, Ctrl-Alt-Delete, Space, lid-turn-on/off,
backspace, brightness increase/decrease nothing helps to turn the
- display back on.
+ display back on. The issue had been same with Lubuntu 13.04 and 13.10 as
+ well.
- The issue had been same with Lubuntu 13.04 and 13.10 as well.
-
- I have tried the askubuntu / ubuntu forums for customizing the hooks
- provided by other pro users. But those seemed to help for helping
- suspend not resuming. I have no issue with Suspending/Hibernating. The
- issue is just to be able to turn on the display after resume from
- suspend/hibernation.
