ill, as per http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3907#bios an update to your BIOS is available (F7). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate does it change anything?  If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

Bug description:
  On a new install of xubuntu 14.04, it does not wake properly from suspend. The screen stays black, if I hit ctrl+alt+f1 and then type in a login name and hit enter, the cursor goes down a line and nothing happens after that. No "password" line come up. Trying to ssh in to it does not work.
