[Bug 1327581] Re: Dell Latitude E5520
Vojtěch Látal, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/latitude-e5520/drivers an update to your BIOS is available (A14). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.
For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.
Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
Dell Latitude E5520
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
After the upgrade from 13.10 to 14.04 fan on my Dell Latitude E5520 is working weird. It works in cycles as follows:
100% for about 0.1s
0% 0.1s
cca 60% for 2 - x seconds, depending on cpu temperature I think.
Before the upgrade fan speed has been set depending on cpu temperature
SMOOTHLY with some hysteresis.
