  Ubuntu 14.04 on Acer TravelMate P253: touchpad scroller not functional

Bug description:
  Hi,
  on my new Acer TravelMate P253 notebook with Ubuntu 14.04 desktop, the touchpad is working OK for normal operations (moving and tapping), but it never scrolls when I slide vertically on its right side (where two arrows clearly show that it should scroll there).
