Christopher, thanks for the link.
As mentioned the 'linux-way' doesn't work. And I'm not familiar with 'HPQFlash' or what they mean with 'disk on key', double-click on an .exe file is useless on Ubuntu.

However, the notebook is doing fine without MagicSysRq -K, the bug
reporter isn't able to update the BIOS and doesn't want to waste
everybodies precious time any further.

  Incomplete

Bug description:
  REISUB works fine but Alt-SysRq-K or Alt+Print+K doesn't respond, iirc
  it did in Oneiric cycle and not sure which one of latest kernel made
  it vanish.
