A new kernel (3.16.0-031600rc3-generic) does make a difference. Bluetooth now works again after wakeup, but still complains about firmware that can't be loaded.
(On an slightly related note. The bluetooth card is a combo wifi/bluetooth, and the new kernel does not support the wifi due to the missing nonfree 'wl' module. DKSM bcmwl-6.30.223.141+bdcom could not be built.)
