I am able to see that this bug is now listed under the "bugs with patch"
bucket. But, where and how can one access this patch?

Title:
Synaptics Touchpad not working for Dell Inspiron N5010 since 12th July
  2014

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I installed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS after removing Windows 7 about two months
ago. This issue was never there the past two months. However yesterday
night (12th July 2014) it stopped working. I believe the Ubuntu
Software Center had installed some updates. I wouldnt know if Kernel
Updates were one of them. I am a novice at using Ubuntu and would not
know anything about coding and using commands on the Terminal. But as
  per the link
  "https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection#generalinfo"; I
would categorise my problem as the 1st instance where the touchpad
isnt working at all. However upon connecting a USB Mouse, I am able to
use the cursor just fine with all the regular functions!

I did try the ubuntu forum where I was told to key in the command
  "sudo apt-get --purge autoremove xserver-xorg-input-synaptics && sudo
apt-get install xserver-xorg-input-synaptics" on the terminal and then
reboot the laptop. I did this after the touchpad stopped working
completely and still the issue didnt get resolved. So I felt the need
to report a bug. I want to reinstall Ubuntu as the last resort only if
this bug cannot be fixed. If the exact same issue has already been
reported by another ubuntu user then a working solution is more than
welcome. Below are the details that may help you. I wouldnt know if
you need more info about my laptop. If you do then please feel free to
email me directly as well at ganesh.udhayasankar@xxxxxxxxx

So Synaptics isnt listed anywhere above, expect the Optical mouse via USB listed right above.

I have attached all the possible log files needed for this bug to be
looked into. If you need more info, then please do feel free to
communicate with me regarding the same.
