David Horton, thank you for your comment. So your hardware and problem may be tracked, could you please file a new report with Ubuntu by executing the following in a terminal while booted into the default Ubuntu kernel (not a mainline one) via:
ubuntu-bug linux

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-evdev

  1) suspend
  2) resume, quite fast, only 2 seconds, and i see desktop and can type, video & sound are working (resumed while playing video)
  3) it takes about 5 more seconds that mouse movements are working.

  This is a fresh install, hardware is a thinkpad t61 (hardware.txt for
  detailed info), no flash opened, reproducable without wifi on.
