[Bug 1337196] Re: 3.2.0-64 kernel version breaks usb3.0 port in asus k53sv
I have a similar problem.
It first occurred with the kernel upgrade to 3.2.0-64 (I guess) and a
Seagate USB 3.0 external HD.
Now I bought a WD Passport ultra harddrive. Same issue:
The WD Passport Ultra harddrive works without problems on a USB 2.0
port, yet when connected to an USB 3.0 port, dmesg shows the following
error:

Title:
3.2.0-64 kernel version breaks usb3.0 port in asus k53sv
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
release: Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS
Few weeks ago my system was updated to the new kernel version 3.2.0-64 and inmediately my 3.0usb port of my asus k53sv laptop breaks.
I'm so sure that it is a bug of the kernel because if I restart my computer with the older kernel version(3.2.0-63) the port work's perfectly well.
Anyway my system recognizes that the port exists and if I connect something to the port the command lususb recognizes it, but still not working.
Recently I update my system to the 3.2.0-65 kernel version but the problem still there.
This is my 3.0 usb controller:
04:00.0 USB controller: ASMedia Technology Inc. ASM1042 SuperSpeed USB Host Controller
Thank you for your support.
