[Bug 1362584] Re: Synaptics Touchpad on HP 255 G1 Not Working after upgrade from 12.04.1 LTS to 14.04.1 LTS
Errors occurred during installation of upstream kernel as per attached
file "Kernel R17 Terminal Output.txt". These were substantially the
same as during the 14.04.1 upgrade (oem-ethernet, oem-wireless plus 1 or
2 others) and also the same as the upgrade to my mythtv pc. Similar
issues afterwards - loss of keyboard (wireless on mythtv) on both
14.04.1 and loss of network on all upgrades. All autocorrected after a
couple of reboots. Only outstanding issue on HP laptop is the touchpad
and boot time message "systemd-udevd failed to execute
/lib/udev/keymap". Exact details on request if relevant to this bug.
At this point (R17 Kernel), touchpad still not working. Please advise
if further work required on this, otherwise it can be marked as
confirmed and tag 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream' added

Title:
Synaptics Touchpad on HP 255 G1 Not Working after upgrade from 12.04.1
LTS to 14.04.1 LTS
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
There are several similar problems on the forums but seem to be either unanswered or marked as solved with no solution. Have only just bought this laptop and one of it's uses will be to play programs recorded on mythtv from our PVR when away from home, hence reason for upgrading to same release.
Have looked at Kernel Debugging Wiki and not sure what is relevant for this issue.
