Message #78417
[Bug 1363661] Re: no proprietary driver
ciryon, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&FamilyId=36&ProductID=2780&ProdId=2780 an update to your BIOS is available (0572). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.
Once the BIOS is updated, then please mark this report Status Confirmed.
For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.
Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
no proprietary driver
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Hello
I've switched from ubuntu 14.04 32 bits to 14.04 64 bits.
In the additional driver tab of my system parametrers, the usual
nvidia proprietary driver which wera appearing in the 32 bits version
does not appears in the 64 bits version.
As a workaround, I've installed this PPA : https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa but the system refuses to add the updates after this PPa is installed because it says the updates have not been verified....I have not have this problem on 32 bits...
