[Bug 1368908] Re: [SONY Vaio Pro][Haswell] 14.04LTS suspend/resume failure

Yuv, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://esupport.sony.com/CA/p/model-home.pl?mdl=SVP13215CDB&template_id=1&region_id=3&tab=download#/downloadTab an update to your BIOS is available (R1044V7). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Once the BIOS is updated, then please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
  [Sony VAIO SVP13215CDB] suspend/resume failure

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  System worked well with Xubuntu 13.10. Installed Xubuntu 14.04LTS
  from scratch. Now the system is unstable.

  To reproduce:
  * boot up
  * close the laptop lid
  * reopen the lid
  * try to access files
  * repeat

  Usually, after closing the laptop's lid, the system will correctly go
  to sleep. Sometimes the system is OK after reopening the lid, but
  eventually and consistently, after a few cycles, reopening the lid
  turns the screen back on but every command fails. Disks and USB keys
  give buffer I/O errors, the system is unstable and I am left with no
  other option than to long-press the power button and lose work.
