[Bug 1374329] Re: Thinkpad T510 TouchPad/TrackPoint not working.
Hello,
Since you installed stock Ubuntu and are not using the preinstalled
version that was certified with this system (10.10, as the system is a
bit old), this bug is not related to certification, so I'll move it
instead to the Linux kernel where the pointing device drivers live.
That said, it sounds like a hardware problem, as I think it's unlikely
the drivers for those basic pointing devices have changed. The last
release for which we certified the T510 was 12.04, so you could get a
12.04 live CD or USB and boot in "try ubuntu without installing" mode,
and confirm whether the pointing devices work with that. If they don't
work with that release, I'd suspect faulty hardware.
** Project changed: ubuntu-certification => linux (Ubuntu)

Title:
Thinkpad T510 TouchPad/TrackPoint not working.
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Trackpad, associated buttons, and trackpoint are not working on my Lenovo Thinkpad T510.
I have the 64-bit Ubuntu 14.04 LTS installed and so far everything else seems to work fine.
This is a fresh install on a brand new hard drive.
A wireless mouse connected through USB port functions normally.
When using the terminal command:
cat /proc/bus/input/devices
Nothing resembling the touchpad nor the trackpoint show up in the
listing.
Solution?
