Title:
Kubuntu Installer hangs with messed up screen (NVIDIA NV450 graphics
  card)

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
For hardware details please see attached dmesg and X.org.log. Main
feature suspected to cause issue is nouveau driver in conjunction with
  NVIDIA Quadro NVS450 graphics card.

The issue occurs with the Kubuntu 14.04 LTS (release) installer and
the Kubuntu 14.10 (beta 2) installer on my PC.

Plug in USB stick or use DVD with installer ISO image. Reset. Kernel
boots. The Keyboard=Man in Circle icon appears at the bottom. After
some time the kubuntu logo appears and glows. Under 14.04 it then
simply hangs forever, under 14.10 the screen messes up (black and
white bricks) and then it hangs forever.

Switching to a text console in the interim shows that some part of the
bootstrapping process succeeds, approximately up to the activation of
the sound driver. The degree of completion of the initialization
varies over different trials to boot into Kubuntu.

On some occurences, messages appear about problems with the nouveau
  driver.

I therefore activated the on-board graphics chip and made it the
primary graphics device. This altered setup boots nicely into the
configuration screen. I did not go further and did not install the
  system.

By the way, I have kubuntu 14.04 LTS running on that PC. It was
flawlessly installed when I had a different mainboard. Due to a
hardware defect, I had to change the mainboard. With identical setup
now apart from the mainboard, the re-installation process fails.
