HI Joseph,
I can try out the latest Kernel. I just tried to follow the instructions for replacing with the proposed Kernel and it looks like Aptitude is replacing the Kernel.
But afterwards when I run "uname -r" it claims that I still have the old Kernel installed: 3.13.0-36-generic
I don't know how to replace the Kernel then.

  Kernel Crash

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  When i run my Ubuntu server over night I often wake up the next
  morning to the error message:

  "unable to handle kernel null pointer dereference"

  If I reboot the server then it works fine for a couple of hours at
  least but then i see the error message again the next day.

  I have attached a screen dump of the error message.

  Please let me know if you need more information
