On my ThinkPad Carbon X1 (2014), after upgrade from Ubuntu Gnome 14.04
to 14.10, the trackpad no longer supports advanced functions such as
two-finger scroll. In the "Mouse and Touchpad" control panel, there is
no "Touchpad" section.  The touchpad previously worked in Ubuntu Gnome
14.04.

/var/log/Xorg.0.log has this line:
Using input driver 'evdev' for 'PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad'

synclient -l reports:
Couldn't find synaptics properties. No synaptics driver loaded?

sudo tpconfig -i reports:
Found Synaptics Touchpad.
