Title:
[Asus V-P5G45] No login page if I log out after using suspend
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Sorry if this is reported against the wrong package. It works fine on
my laptop so I'm operating on the belief this is a kernel problem as
they're running the same software and I'm fairly sure that the
settings are the same.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Start the computer.
2) Log in.
3) Wait for it to settle.
4) Put the computer into suspend.
5) Wake the computer with the power button.
6) Enter password to unlock.
7) Log out.
After logging out, instead of seeing the log-in page, the screen goes
to sleep (monitor reports this) and stays that way. Most of the time I
have to hard-power-off by holding the power button down.
What I've tried:
* I've tried pressing a few keys, enter, shift etc. but this has no effect.
* I've tried typing my password, logging-in blind, and this seems to cause some disk activity but the screen stays asleep.
* I've tried using CTRL+ALT+F6 (54321) to get to a terminal but no change.
* I've tried pressing the power button. On occasion this has caused what I assumed was a clean shut-down as the disc works and the system powers off shortly after. I'm not sure if this works in combination with terminal switching or something else.
What I've not tried, please let me know if any of these efforts would be worthwhile in diagnosing the problem:
* I've not tried clearing my profile or using a new user account as I'm logged out by this time anyway.
* I've not tried a clean re-install as I didn't want to wipe my machine without knowing that it would be useful for diagnosis.
* I've not tried booting from USB as I wasn't sure how to put the same package versions on my USB stick or if it even behaved the same at all.
Thanks
