Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:

(Text from above is copied below)
I have just installed Linux Mint 17 on one of my laptops.
syslog and kern.log are going crazy.
kern.log is filling up with lines like this:

syslog is filling up with lines like this:

wpa_supplicant and rsyslogd are tanking the CPU (two-core laptop):

I believe it is related to the following bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1178841
Does anyone have a fix for this? Due to the excessive CPU load and filling up the root filesystem with logs the system is under heavy strain and not usable for what I plan for it.
I have already had to delete syslog.1 and kern.log.1 once... the root filesystem had 0 bytes free, I waited for the system to automatically create the .1 files then I deleted them.
