Since a couple of weeks I get this low memory corrupted error. Memtest (from Grub) is OK, so I ignored the issue.
But since 2 weeks the poweroff hangs every now and then and I am a bit concerned now.

I am running the same distro also on 2 (64 bit) desktops with no
problems whatsooever

Regards

Title:
Corrupted low memory error on Ubuntu 14.04

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I've read the forum post here regarding this error:
  http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1557604 but it's from 2010
and so am reporting this as a bug.

I'm receiving relatively infrequent messages in the terminal of
  "Corrupted low memory at ffff88000006598 (6598 phys) = e50000000000"
across multiple reboots. The error is especially prevalent when system
load is heavy. Memtest through vendor bios checks out as OK.

System boots fine, hangs occassionally, and I have to killall -u from
a rescue terminal to have the GUI restart
