Title:
Screen brightness not working on Toshiba NB550D netbook

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I have performed a clean install of Ubuntu 12.04. On the netbook the
Fn + F6 and Fn + F7 key control the brightness. When pressed the on
screen popup is shown (showing the brightness level) and this changes
  in line with key presses.

Though the screen brightness remains the same which is the highest
  brightness level.

Also the brightness level does not change when using the System
Settings > Brightness & Lock screen.

The impact of this bug is that I will need to rollback to 11.10 as
this reduce the battery run-time to 50%.
