  unable to boot in EFI

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  OS. Ubuntu 12.10
  Tower. Self build
  Motherboard. Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5 Rev: 1.1
  Processor. AMD FX8350
  BIOS. Award Bios.

Having installed distro with bios set for EFI and restarted I was left with the following screen after the bios had passed control to grub:-

  #_ (underscore is flashing cursor)

The screen remains as such indefinitely.
