14.04 will not boot past "unsupported brightness interface " message

Bug description:
The setup process works perfectly for 14.04. However when rebooting
for first I cannot get past the " unsupported brightness interface"
message , ie. it is unusable. I have run the setup process twice with
same result. I would like to use Ubuntu but without an answer to
this its back to Windows.
Machine : Lenovo T60 V1951
