[Bug 1392999] Re: On Intel 3945ABG, Wi-Fi constantly stops functioning
Nobody, as per http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers an update to your BIOS is available (1.35). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.
Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.
Once the BIOS is updated, then please mark this report Status Confirmed.
Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
On Intel 3945ABG, Wi-Fi constantly stops functioning
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Essentially, sometimes my Wi-FI simply stops functioning without
disconnecting from the network - I am unable to access any Internet
pages and all my downloading files are stuck - this, obviously, is an
undesired effect caused by a bug, as I wish to use Internet normally
without any interference. The only workaround regarding the effect of
this bug is reconnecting to the Wi-Fi network or restarting the
computer - however, the bug usually appears in chain - this means that
reconnecting or restarting usually will give me my Internet access
only for a couple of seconds or minutes until I lose it again due to
same issue.
This bug appears frequently under normal workflow, but it is
especially common whenever I attempt to download large (1GB+) files
either via direct download or BitTorrent client. This bug is present
in earlier versions of Ubuntu(13.10, 14.04) and actually did affect
other distributions as well but it appears that it is much less severe
in 14.10 - an Ubuntu version I currently report this bug from. Default
14.10 kernel was not changed. I have made slight changes in /usr/lib
/pm-utils/power.d/wireless(disabled Wi-Fi power savings) and
/etc/pm/config.d/blacklist(blacklisted Wi-Fi power management) in
order to lessen the outcome of this bug but I do not think that it
have changed much and bug was present in the same form before I have
made those changes.
