[Bug 1398533] Re: [HP Stream Notebook - 11-d010nr] clickpad malfunctions after performing a click in Lubuntu 14.10
There may have been an easier way of doing this, but I eventually
determined that I would need to reinstall Windows in order to get my
BIOS patched. My Lubuntu install was less than a day old so that was not
too much of a problem, but I was fortunate to have a Windows 8 retail CD
laying around since I had already erased my recovery partition.
Anyway, I successfully updated my BIOS to F.06 as instructed. After
reinstalling Lubuntu 14.10, I once again attempted to test the clickpad
and got the same results when I click on anything with the clickpad. The
first place clicked remains the mouse pointer's focus when attempting to
click on anything else from then on until the clickpad is disabled. In
short: no change.
Here is the output of the command (sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date):
F.06
11/14/2014
Please let me know if there is anything else I can do or any further
information I can provide.
Thank you!

Title:
[HP Stream Notebook - 11-d010nr] clickpad malfunctions after
performing a click in Lubuntu 14.10
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Edit: This bug is a possible duplicate of bug #1394869
So far, from what I can gather, the clickpad functions normally when
using the touchpad portion to maneuver the onscreen pointer. However,
the act of using one of the hardware click buttons causes it to
malfunction.
To test, I ran:
xinput --test 11
and the output given shows a rapid stream of positioning data prior to the click, then no data after the click, however the mouse pointer appears to continue to move. However attempting to click on anything with the pointer after the first click of the clickpad registers as a click in the same location with either the clickpad or an external mouse until the clickpad is disabled with:
xinput set-prop 11 "Device Enabled" 0
which of course causes the clickpad to cease function, however the USB mouse then continues to work normally.
If you would like for me to perform any other tests, please let me
know what I can try.
