[Bug 1021525] [NEW] Resume from suspend has stopped working on Dell Inspiron 1720... computer freezes

Closing the laptop lid appears to put the laptop in suspend mode. But it
will not wake up. The same thing occurs if pm-hibernate is used from the
command line. I have been using various forms of Ubuntu and Kubuntu on
this laptop for many years and never had a problem until recently (about
a month ago) so the likely culprit was in a recent kernel update.
