[Bug 1398533] Re: [HP Stream Notebook - 11-d010nr] clickpad malfunctions after performing a click in Lubuntu 14.10
Well, I must confess, for me this fix is sufficient. I will only use the
simulated clicks anyway due to the clickpad's design, where the touch-
senstive area covers the buttons which means if I use the hardware
buttons to click on things, then the pointer will frequently deviate in
the process of clicking, leading to undesirable results. That's not a
bug, that's just poor hardware design.
It still seems to be a bug, however, in that the hardware clicks cause a
malfunction or otherwise cannot be used. This may be frustrating for a
new user who is less inclined to fiddle with configurations or willing
to compromise on the their clickpad's functionality.
Specifically the bug is: clicking the hardware clickpad buttons causes
all mouse input to malfunction.
So I am uncertain how to mark it here. It's still a bug but it's one I
can live with. If you would like, I can still mark it as invalid here or
if you prefer, I am willing to continue testing to see if we can get the
hardware buttons working too. Please advise me as to which would be
best.

Title:
[HP Stream Notebook - 11-d010nr] clickpad malfunctions after
performing a click in Lubuntu 14.10
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Edit (12/07): Updated bug description: clicking the hardware clickpad
buttons causes all mouse input to malfunction.
Edit: This bug is a possible duplicate of bug #1394869
So far, from what I can gather, the clickpad functions normally when
using the touchpad portion to maneuver the onscreen pointer. However,
the act of using one of the hardware click buttons causes it to
malfunction.
To test, I ran:
xinput --test 11
and the output given shows a rapid stream of positioning data prior to the click, then no data after the click, however the mouse pointer appears to continue to move. However attempting to click on anything with the pointer after the first click of the clickpad registers as a click in the same location with either the clickpad or an external mouse until the clickpad is disabled with:
xinput set-prop 11 "Device Enabled" 0
which of course causes the clickpad to cease function, however the USB mouse then continues to work normally.
If you would like for me to perform any other tests, please let me
know what I can try.
