[Bug 1400792] Re: Silent ext4 read error

>> Also, can you list the steps you use to reproduce this bug?

I simply set up a small home server using Ubuntu Server 14.04 and stored
my files, including movies and photos. I replicate the data directory to
another disk suing rsync, and then I started see too many file sync and
I become suspicious something was wrong. So I stopped any update
activity on the disks and checked once per day with disk command:

( cd /storage0/data ; find . -type f -exec sha256sum -b {} \; ) >
sha256sum.list

Then I started seeing those many files with different hash values.

>> Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel?

I'll do that, but I will be not be able to do it immediately, as I have
not so spare time this week. I'll do it at last by next monday

Title:
  Silent ext4 read error

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Reading multiple times from an ext4 disk directory and getting
  different files...

I did calculate the sha256sum of all files three times between system
reboots and not all the files hash values are equal

I did this on two different PCs / different disks (both on Ubuntu
14.04 LTS) with the same result... I really don't know what to do
because no error is logged in the syslog/kernel files

I have annexed the sha256sum lists of the three times files were read

Files are not always the same, but always big

I did the same on btrfs and got the same result...
