Hi, Christopher.

Updating the BIOS is becoming more tricker than it should as HP
officially only supports updating it through Windows. After many
attempts through USB external disks I ended resizing my partition (luks
+ lvm) and creating an empty one to install Windows in it. Windows 7 was
not supported because of GPT, so next try is with Windows 8.1. I'll
write it back when I have it done and BIOS updated.

  The same description from  #1385926 applies here. However, my system
  is Ubuntu with Unity, with a default install.

  Also, the suggested workaround (choose "suspend" from menu) works too.
