  Probable cause: As I was creating a traditional music CD using
  Brasero, I renamed the containing folder while the first song was
  being written... Error messages resulted. The hard drive ran for a
  long while. After that, the CD light has been on all night, and I
  think it's still quietly running. Pressing and holding the CD release
  button didn't work. I haven't tried sticking a paper clip into the
  hole. The drive is not visible in Thunar file manager.
