Sorry, but I couldn't dissect it back to the lucid kernels, the packages
just won't install right, popping a lot of errors. I have tried to supply
some of the dependencies myself, but to no avail.
I could though find another clue, one of the packages these older kernels
need is called wireless-crda, which I suspect is the package which would
contain the wi-fi 'drivers'. Maybe the lack of dependency on this package
would explain why the newer kernels don't work right with this hardware.
