Title:
can not alter display brightness after upgrade to 13.10

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
I'm on a Lenovo b570e. Since upgrade to kubuntu 13.10 the screen
brightness can no longer be altered. Worked fine in kubuntu 13.04 and
still works fine in windows 7 (dual boot).

  I tried
  - using the special keys (fn-key + arrow up/down). This was my default way to change brightness in 13.04. In 13.10 it doesn't even show the brightness 'progress bar' (see attachment if you don't know what bar I mean) with the new percentage (fn-key + arrow left/right to change volume still works fine by the way and DOES show the bar)
  - installed and tried xbacklight -set 50. This shows the brightness 'progress bar' but the screen brightness doesn't actually change.
  - use the battery widget which also has a slider for the screen brightness. Again, it shows the brightness 'progress bar' but the screen brightness doesn't actually change.

I read the instruction below about finding the package but I have no
idea. Clearly it's not a GUI level issue since both the widget and
xbacklight don't work so it's deeper but I don't know where.
