Mime install correct. Work nice.
Icon for the .pro files visible in file manager (Dolphin, PCMan).

Distro - mandriva 2009.1 i586 and x86_64, desktop LXDE.

For me it also works on debian testing/unstable (x86_64). In Nautilus and Thunar.
Keep in mind that i vectorized the kicad icon with inkscape to make it moreuseable for vector based UIs (see resources/linux/icons/hicolor).

Does anyone have problems to get mime working?
Try removing all mime.cache and update-mime-database.
