So, according to the report you've sent you have strange wxWidgets binary
using unicows.dll abstraction layer for missing unicode features in Win9x...

If I could suggest, try to build debug version of wxWidgets and KiCad - it
is heavier but do not crash in most cases but triggers assertions. It is
helpful in case of SVN latests.
