Hi Vesa,

  I didn't know about Øyvind's work; thanks for the links.  I think ultimately we have different goals; I am only doing the VRML work to get some exercise creating parametric models and my real goal is to create solid models in FreeCAD to provide  KiCAD users with tools for mechanical integration, so eventually I will abandon the VRML work.  I will keep in touch with the kicad-lib-committers; I think the discussions there are very important since a well-documented naming scheme is essential for handling very large numbers of parts and especially for organizing the collaboration between different groups producing different models.
