Although for our windows friends, we have chosen for now not to use the "patch" (patch.exe
on windows) command, instead using "bzr patch ..."

Unfortunately bzr patch only works:

A) on a bzr working tree.  So that means that the source tree for the package being
externally built has to first be checked into a scratch repo established for that purpose.

B) if bzrtools has been installed.


Windows wants to be an operating system, but it is still having problems being such.  It
is mostly a delivery vehicle for proprietary software coming from Microsoft.
